We are fortunate to have some good friends who are also very talented musicians, among them our friends in the Arsenal Trio. Ben Sung, Jihye Chang and Hrant Parsamian are scattered about the country, but we do get to see them from time to time, and we had a fun visit with them last week. They work very hard at their craft, and when they perform, they make it look easy, even though it isn't!
When the trio lived in our home town, we had a tradition of having lunch here at the house most Sundays. One of Hrant's favorite meals was "2 AM Ribs," so named because DH actually got up at 2:00 in the morning to put the ribs in the slow cooker.
We attended a recent concert in which they performed Schoenfield's Cafe Music (the coolest piece of music I've heard in a while) and Mendelssohn's Piano Trio No. 1 in D Minor. As I was watching them perform, I thought, how lucky we are to know them, and how lucky we are to get to see them perform every now and then.
