4 Chicks at the Movies: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Being Terribly Shy, I don’t go out with the girls much, but the other day, four of us got together to take in a movie. I was really excited, because I hadn’t been to a movie theater since around the time cell phones were invented. (We have a massive widescreen TV with surround sound and a rockin’ subwoofer, so we just wait for the DVD release.)

Finally, I was going to experience stadium seating. I’m not kidding—it’s been a really long time! Off we went to view Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, in theaters now.

Well, I would say that there were lots of great action scenes, but a chick probably isn’t the best judge of action scenes. Mostly, I was just marveling at the digital-effects techniques.

To say much else would be to give away the entire plot, so we’ll just check in with our panel (and only give away part of the plot):

Helga: It could’ve used a little more romance.
TS: It had plenty of bugs.
CheckBabe: It had everything I wanted—ALIENS! Whenever a movie has aliens in it, I’m satisfied.
Nik: I’ll give it two and a half stars. I’m a major fan, but it had too many slow spots.
Helga: Was it the greatest Indiana Jones movie ever? I don’t think so. Did I appreciate the movie? Yes, I did.
Nik: I think they took everything that was happening at that time in history and tried to fit it all into the movie.
TS: I’m confused. We’re 4 Chicks—shouldn’t we be at a chick movie?
Helga: Did I appreciate the fact that he admitted his age? Yes, I did. I give it four stars.
CheckBabe: I would say four and half stars . . . I thought the aliens should have at least acknowledged the hardship Indiana Jones had to go through to bring the skull back to the chief alien.
TS: I’ll give the bugs three stars.
DH: Did Karen Allen look like she’d had a lot of plastic surgery?
TS: Nope. She looked like she needed a lot of plastic surgery. When we saw her on The Late Late Show, she looked like she’d had a lot of plastic surgery.
CheckBabe: ET did a better job of saying goodbye to the earthlings…

So, there you have it. 4 Chicks at the Movies gives Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull 3.5 stars—or, if you prefer, 3.5 bugs.
